Advent is what we call the season leading up to Christmas: It begins four Sundays before December 25th, so this year it begins on Sunday November 30th.
How will we Celebrate Advent at ACF?
Our Sermons will be from the Gospel of Matthew. We will follow the events closely that lead up to the birth of Christ and then behold the Christ child as he was born on the first Christmas day. Matthew has a unique way of telling this amazing, true story. Our sermons for this short series will be:
“A Story of Grace”, Matthew 1:1-17
“Finding Courage at Christmas”, Matthew 1:18-25
“A Savior is Found”, Matthew 2:1-12
Often times, this season of Christmas can be one of the most busy seasons of the year. For many, we are traveling, spending more time with family, shopping for gifts for loved ones, and enjoying good food. This is great! But, we also want to remember the real meaning of Christmas which is ‘good news of a Savior’ who is Jesus. This year, we handed out booklets to read daily during the entire Advent season. These will help you focus on Jesus and prepare your heart to welcome him and worship him in a fresh way.
You can find the booklet here that we are using from Desiring God ministries:
Just click the PDF in the left panel of the page.
Music helps us celebrate and remember our Lord and Savior Jesus! We plan to sing several traditional Christmas carols (such as ‘Joy to the World’, ‘Silent Night’) during our Sunday services. Please join us each Sunday for our worship service at 10:30am.
Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things. 1 Peter 1:10-12
